So I’m sure you’ve seen this around and wondered what exactly is The Next Big Thing Blog Hop. Basically it’s a chance for hard working writers’ to show the world what they are working on or have recently published. We are asked a series of questions and I will link the writer who will do the same thing in their blog next week. I was tagged by Spoken Pandora who discussed her work Haven: The First Taste

So here are my answers:

What is the working title of your book/story/whatever?

My published novel is entitled “black girl love” and it’s a series of short stories and poetry focused on women loving women. I’m currently working on two other novels “Savannah” and “Pat Greene” along with a second helping of “black girl love”

Where did the idea come from for the book?

I don’t think that an idea was ever really there..just worked out that way. I started doing short stories and poems, people liked them and asked hey when is your book coming out. So it did.

What genre does your book fall under?

Lesbian fiction with a splash of erotica/bdsm bent.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

No one, BGL doesn’t really flow as movie since its all short stories but one of my upcoming novels might possibly go that route. At least in my head…lol

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

“black girl love” is a collection of well-crafted contemporary stories told from a black girls perspective on life and loving other “grown” black girls.

What is the longer synopsis of your book?

“black girl love” is a collection of well-crafted contemporary stories told from a black girls perspective on life and loving other “grown” black girls. Full of highs, lows and sex thrown in the middle of, “black girl love” contains over twenty-five stories and poems covering life, love and sex, featuring characters you will love, hate and want to fuck all at the same time.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

My novel was published by LM Inc. and the next ones will be self published.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

I don’t really know how to answer this one because some of the stories were written many moons ago, but to actually wrap up the entire project about a year or so.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

I was going through life, living and loving or rather lack of when I started scribbling. It saved me on those long evenings when I probably would have done something stupid like call or text..lol I found I liked the scribbling, the poetry..the connection it created with others.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

This book is you and me and all the black girls you have ever loved, thought on loving and hope to love. It’s told from my reality and the women I know, reality. We go to work, have kids, fall in love and have sex…and not in that particular order.
